In 2000, the original Pierside Gallery introduced me to Michael Parkes' latest release, "Persepolis". So impressed by its beauty, I bought two. I immediately had one custom framed with silk, beading (to match that in her head piece) and a solid wood frame stained to match the drapery color in the artwork. The goal was to make the frame an extension of the art and not to conflict with it.
Without exception, each aspect for the framing was done without concern for the cost. When I picked up the finished piece, The gallery manager complimented me on the choice of materials to frame by saying it perfectly suited the art. For the past 22 years, this Parkes Persepolis has been proudly displayed in my home. It was hung in a draped room with indirect lighting so the colors of the art are a rich and vibrant as they were those many years ago. Instead using glass (which easily shatters), I opted for the more expensive plexiglass which provides a much greater protection for the art.
Plexiglass is stronger for protection and much lighter in weight. "Persepolis" is one of Michael Parkes' most popular lithograph pieces. This hand-pulled stone lithograph which gives each piece a slight variation, making each one slightly unique. This is a lengthy and difficult process that Parkes abandoned years ago. As time passes, their limited availability should continue increasing his stone lithographs valuations.
To learn more about this Persepolis, see the specifications list below. I found two of them that actually showed their price (most do not).
Of course, that price does not include framing or re framing. A frame that is in perfect harmony with the art it surrounds (I have not seen many) is never cheap, but more than worth the expense. All photos presented in this listing are of the actual art you will receive. No stock pictures are used. As you can determine from the photos, this Persepolis is in "like new" condition even under strict scrutiny, The detail in this piece is nothing less than amazing.
And for those who would prefer Michael Parkes beauty without the nudity, this is a very smart choice. I highly recommend you take some extra time to view the close-ups of the framing edges.
